I will be going out of town this week for the holidays. As a way of compensating, I bought my RES 12 rosies to snack on. I thought they would last into the week, as he usually eats them at a slow pace, but to my surprise (and upset) he has already eaten all but 1 within the day. I know this is far too much food for one time. So, I'm wondering, should I risk buying a few more fish and hope he saves them for when I'm gone, or should I allow him to go without food for a few days (seeing as how he gorged himself today)? Thanks!

I think rosies are once-in-a-month treat, so your RES should be fine when you
go out of town for a few days.
RES - Ramen <f> (51/4")
RES - Heine <f> (43/4")
Asian Leaf Turtle - unnamed <m> (53/4")
measured at Nov 24, 2012

I wouldn't get anymore fish. He's had his protien intake for the month. He should be fine while your gone. Do you have a timer for the lights?
My favorite things in the world:
1 res, 3 cats, 3 bunnies, 1 dog, 2 african clawed frogs, guppies, pleco, 30+ fancy mice, 2 hermit crabs and 4 small humans

When you say a few days, how many days are we talking?

You can always drop a water plant in the tank. My turtle shreds it immediately, but it takes her a few days to pick up all the scraps around the tank.
