O by the way prob looking for one which will reach a max of around 13-14", thanks (P.S that sounds wrong lol i am editing this the full size turtle wont be in this tank lol thats just ridiculous, like i said to marissa when the turtles outgrow my 100 gallon tank they will be moved into my heated pond, just to clarify before i get shocked replies lol)

I think cooters can grow quite a bit larger than 13". Your cooter is 5" now? He should be in about a 50-gallon tank now and as he grows, that 100-gallon tank will most likely not be the ideal size for him alone, even given the max size you've given. You already know what my advice would be, so I'm not even going to repeat it here...:D

well its not realli a problem if he gets bigger because we have a very very large 10ftx6ft heated pond in the garden, but i just prefer to keep them in my room lol the likelihood for me is marissa that when terrance does get to his full size whether it be 13 or 15 or more he is going to be in our pond u see, but for at least the time that i can i would like to keep him with another species, any ideas

Just curious, but what happens next winter with two turtles?

I'm sorry, but if you get a second turtle, which ideally would be about the size of Terrance, you're already at the ideal tank size limit for them. And they will grow. If they don't get along?

I suppose you're right. But they wont hibernate because it is an indoor pond, temps r too high. I might just look at things for terrance tomorrow then. If anyone does have any other ideas or thoughts, please feel free

I was just wondering because I had to keep terrance with my cousins snake neck turtle for 3 weeks while he went on holiday, and terrance was ok with the snake neck no aggressiveness at all, so just wondered what other species i might be able to keep, i suppose tho in the long run u rite

I agree 100% with Marisa. A 100 gallon tank will be about the bare minimum for one full grown cooter. Any other turtle will make the space even more cramped.

I understand the excitement of wanting and getting new pets (why do you think i have so many different species?) but your cooter will not be happy with a buddy. i think you should just stick to one turtle and maybe invest in some large koi when you move him to the pond.

Ye i decided not to go with another turtle but instead to spend some money making his environment nicer for him :) thanks for your advice. As far as the koi go, :) we have some gorgeous ones in the pond already, dad loves his koi lol
