Feeding and Nutrition :: question for vacation time

I posted this in General but think I shoulda done it here. I will be outta town in July for four days. Whats the best thing to do? Leave some rosy reds in tank? Cuttlebone, Lettuce? What should I do? I am talking about small 2inch babies used to eating blueberries and lettuce and pellets and Anacharis...I want to buy one of the power strips with the timer on it so they dont have light and heatlamp all day and night, They r in a 75 wide. With internal filter and heater. Anyone have info on this or success doing this please let me know. Whole fam going so nobody will be here. Thanks in advance!!!

I answered some of your questions in your other post.

What kind of internal filter do you have in 75-gallon wide? If it's not powerful enough for that size tank, you should do a good cleaning and water change before you go.

Thanks Marisa I got it on other post....I have a Fluval 4 plus filter,And they r outside all day on my covered porch, They get morning sun and in late afternoon a lil more, I dont usually feed them in the tank and I scoop out the poo so it stays nice and clean, So I will probably come home to a mess. I have never fed rosies to them I guess I need to start now this month so I know if they will even eat them. They do like baby snails. Oh I read somewhere that someone left those weekend feeder blocks for fish and the turtle ate that, Do you think something like that would be better or just go natural? They love lettuce so I know theyd prob be ok with just that to right?
or without the pellets would they get diahreah?

I wouldn't do feeder blocks, but people have used those automatic feeders. Some also leave a few feeder fish in their tank.

Thanks Steve, Thats what I am going to do feeder fish, And anacharis that they love, I was afraid lettuce would get yucky. Yes I know sun thru window does no good I was just responding to the above poster who said they just used sunlight thru the window for there tank, It wouldnt even penatrate the tank glass if window was open just might heat it up tho. Thats why I take my turts outside. Due to having Cancer surg last Dec 07, I am afraid of using the UV bulbs and just use sun and food with D3 in it. Their shells look great nice and hard but B4 I got them all they got was shrimp and it caused weird wide lines inbetween patterns on top of shell. It looks alot better now since I have them on veggies and fruit with baby Reptomin pellets. Thanks again

I am going to be gone for about four days this July as well and plan on making sure water quality is good and then hook them up with some feeder fish before I leave. If I have read correctly they can go several days or longer without food. I have one tank by a window which I know is no good, but it is what will work for that one. The other I need to set up my timer for as it is across the room.
I also plan on pellets the morning I am getting ready to leave, the feeder fish and some lettuce. My only try concern is the food being ate one or two days insted of over the four days, guess they will have to chase down the feeder fish. The pellets will be about half the amount I normally give due to the fish and the lettuce.
