That's what my guys got for dinner tonight... with a Cuttlebone chaser

Summer means fresh garden veg. They both love the green and red leaf lettuce, fresh out of the ground. Ralph even eats the stem!!!

Gave them each a raspberry too - interesting reactions to them. Frankie seemed interested, took a bite, studied it for a minute, then went looking for more lettuce.
Ralph (once he noticed it) seemed pretty keen on the first half of the berry, then got bored and went back to his rock

Seems their not big on the raspberries... Oh well, more for me!

Oh how I miss having a garden!! Being in an apartment, I haven't had the opportunity to have a garden, but as soon as I get a house, I am going to have a gorgeous garden, with squash and tomatoes and peppers and strawberries and ...

We have too many trees in our backyard casting shade to grow anything.

My mom has a garden and all but she's growing sugar snap pees, cucumbers, Tomatoes(2 varieties) and strawberries.

So I will give Squirt a strawberry as a treat one of these days, maybe a tomato sliver too. I still need to look up whether pees are okay to feed to turts.

Lettuce is pretty easy to grow - You could probably do it in one of those long window box planters We get a mix of seeds, so as well as red and green leaf, there is some fancy types too. Although now it's a bit late in the season to start. It prefers cooler weather.

I do believe peas are on the "not too often" list. I've tried sugar peas with Ralph once, but he wasn't keen on them.

I like growing water plants outsdie for the kids. I kill most things that would go into the ground, but water weeds love me!

I'm trying my hand at water plants the first time this year!
I bought 4 water hyacinth a while back, fed one to the turts, and put the rest outside in a bucket. They've done quite well, and I've already fed the turts another shoot each.
But I think they were getting too much sun, since some of the leaves were burnt.
So just this week I transfered them to a nice big pot (plugged the hole with good ol' aquarium silicon), and added small fountain pump that wasn't being used. They're looking better already

cool! I would love to grow those again, but the racoons eat them!
