Feeding and Nutrition :: frozen turtle cubes

i got the frozen turtle cubes today. what's everyone's recommendation on how to feed it to MR. PICKY? I'm going to wait until the third day to try him on it. my new tactics have led him to actually eat some pellets!!! still no luck on veggies, but he ate a sliver of apple the other day ...GETTING CLOSER...LOL.

I used to feed frozen bloodworm cubes to squirt as a treat every once in a while, And I just tossed the cube in the tank. They thaw out very quickly in the warm tank water. They are biteable in about 30 seconds or less. Squirt would start tearing it up way before that, but the cube fully broke apart by itself in about 30 seconds.

wish me luck! i put in red leaf lettuce in a veggie clip and the feeder fish are eating it.

Good luck....tell them its not for them. I dought they will listen but its worth a try.

LOL. i've told them! they don't listen...lol. they are quite comfortable since my turt won't EAT THEM!

well, the outcome with the cubes was mediocre. he wouldn't eat any that i put in the water, but he ate a few soft pieces out of my hand...he got some in him (not a ton) and a lot in the water making a mess. it was weird though b/c he was begging for it, but when he ate it 75% of it fell, like he was being super messy eating it. he still won't eat the free floating chunks in the water though. bleh.

mzkitty - i wish we were neighbors so we could go in on buying all kinds of different foods together to save money and try these things out on our picky eaters. ichigo is about to come off her feeding tube so i am researching alternatives too ..... have you tried the gelatin - turtle pudding recipe yet? i think i am going to try that first.

For smaller turtles, I quarter a cube. For larger turtles I cut them in half. It makes it easier for them to eat, and is less messy.

NO KIDDING HANNA! i know i keep buying all this stuff just so he can NOT eat it...ugh! let me tell you those are some happy feeder fish and BIG..LOL. i have not tried the gelatin, let me know how that goes! i did find out that a few of the things he don't eat i can give to my hermit crabs, so it's not a total loss. good luck when ichingo comes off the feeding tube...how is she doing? still "passing" stuff?

Theres somewhat of a bright side and just think, now you have new pet fish.

Also thats good to hear about the feeding tube. Hope he likes the food you give him.
