Feeding and Nutrition :: Pleco eats lettuce???

I just got one of those little clips with a suction cup that holds veggies. I put it on the glass, attached a big piece of romaine and the turtles were all thrilled. Within a few minutes, the pleco was eating the lettuce. The turtles left it alone, and the fish went up and started chowing down. I thought at first he was just trying to see if it had algae...but he was putting holes in it. Anyone experience this?? Is it ok for the fish to eat lettuce?? Eeek.

I don't know about whether it is ok or not (would guess yes though) but my goldfish are going after the turtles lettuce too. I think I will have to switch back to romaine since they left that alone when I was using it. I wouldn't care so much but the goldfish are even more messy than the turtles when it comes to eating - leave teeny tiny bits of lettuce (think pin point sized) all over. AND, then their turds float so it takes a while for them to get sucked into the filtration so the top of the water looks pretty messy. Anyway, back to romaine next time I go to the store. Perhaps I should start feeding the goldfish.......

Plecos are plant eaters, so naturally they'd be attracted to the lettuce. It's perfectly fine.
