Feeding and Nutrition :: red leaf lettuce

My res is somewhere between 3 and a half inches and 4 inches and it seems that no matter how much red leaf lettuce i put in the tank, she will eat it before the end of the day. How much is too much? Because she will eat a full leaf of it, within 3 hours.

Hard to measure out an amount, especially with a turtle that devours everything. If your turtle is producing a lot of soft, messy stools then I would scale back.

I've read that full grown female turtles are given two leaves of romaine a day, so maybe a third of that for your turtle?

I put one medium-size leaf of red leaf lettuce and three dandelion leaves into my RES's tank at 1:00 pm this afternoon. They were gone within the half hour. Too bad, so sad---that's all he'll get for greens until tomorrow, even though I know he'd eat more if he was given half the chance.
