Feeding and Nutrition :: How picky is YOUR turt?

So last night I gave the "kids" a slice of strawberry each. Last time I gave Ralph strawberry, he snarfed it (he has a sweet tooth).
Well, this time he decided that the only good part was the outside, red bit. He's eaten about half a cm all the way around the strawberry slice and left the light coloured centre
He also leaves the peel of red peppers

So what picky habits does your turt have?

My turtle is about 5 years old. Until just the past few months, he's always been a picky eater. He was enthusiastic about Reptomin, Mazuri, shrimp and basil. He liked cuttlebone. He would nibble at other things but without much interest. A few months ago, it was like someone turned on a switch. All of a sudden he wants to eat everything in sight. I don't know whether he just matured or he's bored or he's feeling good or he's feeling anxious. He looks to me like he's feeling good and content and is suddently just wild about food. His consumption of lettuce is just awesome.

Murph will eat just about anything but he does not eat the skin on a blueberry and he eats only the lettuce leaf not the stalk.

My suggestion for picky eating is to take what they don't eat and save it for the next day or the next day or the next day. Wait long enough and they will eat it. If you are not careful they will have you going to the restaurant for lobster or shrimp. You will have to gain control of their whims and not spoil them

Rossco only enjoys scarfing down pellets and lettuce. Iv been very persistent with carrots, and now he will eat those when I leave them on the veggie clip. I'm now offering apple peelings, in which he turns his nose up too. Eventually, he will nibble out of curiosity and and then it will be as easy as carrots.

Iv offered him strawberry, which he didn't try, and they don't stick in the veggie clip, so I figure thats his issue because they are rather yummy.

I guess the key to a picky eater is persistence.

picky? turtles? Mine will eat almost anything that I toss into the tank, and try to eat inedible things too. I have seen them going after almost anthing that they think looks edible. I have seen both spit a few things out, but not many.

Mine isn't picky, he tries anything I put in the tank and hasn't spit anything out yet!

Tsk! And here I thought most turtles were picky!
I don't usually give them special treatment when it comes to food, although sometimes I'll take the peel off veggies (like cuke, zuke), mostly so I don't have to scoop it out later
Although, I was pleased to see Ralph has been going after the lettuce recently like it's the best thing since reptomin! They both seem to like Romaine lettuce best... Maybe they like it's cruncy texture.
