Why do hatchling turtles need to be fed every day and adults only every other day? I just got to thinking and wondering about this today.

From my perspective these little guys need their constant food to fill out and they just do better when they are fed twice a day. They are not big enough to store much in those little bodies and need the constant metobolism to stave off any diseases. For the first 6 to 8 months I feed them twice a day and then back to once a day for a year until they are over 21/2 inches. From about 3 to 31/2 inches I start skipping a day.

because they're growing turtles!

if you feed twice a day tho, cut the amount in half so they're still getting the same amount.
