A cool new design.

To be short and concise- (maybe not)

I configured two ponds, a 105 gallon one and a huge 240 gallon one to separate an agression that could get worse over the years if let alone. The smaller one would be for the male agressor, while the larger one would have the two less agressive turtles living together.

I incorporated a triangular design for both ponds, which cleared enough room for some possible green space. Green space to be shared by both pond areas, and the ponds with their green space would be divided by some sort of wooden fence or thick brush that's managable.

Outer walls to be made of concrete block, about 2.5 feet high, with a combination of plexi and chicken wire for the roof. I could provide a box fan for ventilation on those kinds of days.

I dunno if it's cleared with you guys, but in order to make room for the green space, I had to kind of slide the ponds up against the outer walls, only about 3-4 inches off. Possibly to be covered with some sort of landscaping stones...... my knock-off river rocks from the garden :) .

So, how's it?

Boy, you've been thinking! Sounds like a very interesting design! Would the two ponds be connected, or would they be separated by the green space?

Tell us more about the roof. Are you actually contemplated a cover over the whole area - ponds, green space and all?)

One thing they will need is shade. The smaller one especially will get hot in the direct sun. Actually, the larger one may get hot too. I don't think the box fan will work very well.

Don't suppose you have a drawing of the concept?

There are things that I've thought of. Like connecting both ponds by a stream that will circulate water between the two, and will have a fancy underground thing going on that will get the water back to the big pond, where the circulation starts.

But shade is a definite thing on my timetable, and I'm thinking of either planting some short managable trees or bushes, making some sort of gazebo or tiki hut on both sides, or putting logs that the guys can crawl under.

The roof hasn't been given much thought, but I guess the plexi will be put on the edges while the chicken wire will be in the center.

I think I'll have to shade the ponds.

And I haven't given much thought of those infamous hurricanes.
