Outdoor Pond For RES Year Round OK?
I have 7 red eared slider turtles and have to keep most of them separated from each other as they fight. Needless to say this is lots of work and care and I must find homes for some. I have the opportunity to give 2 of them to a home with a HUGE pond - probably could hold hundreds of turtles. It is a beautiful natural pond - very clean with lots of brush all around for the turtles to get out and sun or hide. Deepest point at certain times of the year is about 7 feet. I am considering giving them 2 of the very healthy adults - about 9 years old. They have been used to eating some live food (worms, fish, crickets) and there is food and vegetation in the pond. They seem to be healthy to hibernate as well though they have never done so. What are your thoughts on this? I think they would think they died and went to turtle heaven.
