anyways, it flourished for a few weeks, until that bathtub A rusted a hole in the bottom, and water leaked out.

so, i moved to bathtub B. i cleaned it out, then filled it with water and a tiny bit of bleach.

then i rinsed it out. filled it, and transfeered my turtle and fishes; i dont deem the feeder fish anymore because the turtle doesnt feed on them..

the water hyacinth then became rotton for some reason, idk why...

some other forums said to dose them with miracle grow for a night, i tried that...

look at the pics...on the top left is the old setup, on the bottom left is the sparkling clean new one, on the right side is the new tub after a week with the dieing hyacinths.

I don't know where you live, but mine stay beautiful all summer, but if we have only one cold night, they start to die for some reason. Also if my turts eat all the roots, they look like that too. I have to keep replacing them from the bigger pond.

The ones in my outdoor pond usually thrive, but the ones I bring indoors begin to die w/in 2 weeks. They multiply so fast I just bring in another bunch from outside for the tank.

Sometimes the pond turts will go on an eating spree & destroy the roots, so I've taken to keeping about a dozen in a medium plastic tub near the pond so I can move 'em back & forth if the roots get eaten too quickly.
