i've been running an xp3 in about 10 gallons of water for mitch .. with great results .. but recently i've been seeing this oil slick-like thing happening on the water surface. The water is realy clean, but just on the surface it's like oil is up there. Anyway, i took a couple of pictures so hopefully you'll be able to see. my theory is that he's eating the island and its releasing some chemical into the water or something. i'm really not sure though, anyone else experience this?

Here's some comments on a recent post:

If, however, you feel that it could be chemicals released by an object in the tank, then if it were me I'd take the object out. When you say the turtle's eating the island, do you mean the palm tree deal in the photo? You could take that out and replace it with a plastic plant of some sort that your turtle could hide in and rest on. If the palm tree is taking up much space in the tank, then removing it will also give little Mitch more swimming room!
