Habitat - Indoor :: Qs about how to rinse new rocks for turtles

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I finally got my baby RES turtle food -thank God Mom was in the mood to go to the pet store :D - and I also got some decent sized marbles for the bottom of the tank. (Trust me, they're too big for the turtles to swallow  ) I just wanted to know how to rinse them before I put them into the tank.
I have two baby RES; Emerald(Emmie or Rocky for short, plus she has green ears!) and Pretty. (Don't ask me about her name. My brother named her. He's only 6 1/2.)

I rinse anything new to the tank in water by simply closing the drain and putting them (in this case rocks/marbles) in there. Some people boil their rocks, but that is usually just when they get them from outside.

So, the tap water is safe to use?

Yeah, by rinsing them in water you are cleaning them, and you can wrap them in a towel and dry them off real quickly if you want to be extra safe.

I don't recommend glass or colored marbles/rocks/pebbles. Go for larger river rocks.
