Habitat - Indoor :: tank by window or wall?

well i got a 55 gallon today and my old 20 is in the corner away from my window.the plugs by it are not grounded. i can put the new 55 by my window where the plugs are grounded..but could it get too hot? the windows have thin sheets and blankets over it too block out the sun..cuz im a vampire.
do the plugs need to be grounded? i have two lights a heater and a filter...all not grounded..will it matter?

These days a lot of electronics do not need a dedicated ground. Ever notice how plugs have 2 size slits and you can only plug the cord in one way? Basically by doing that, you have a ground and don't need the 3rd hole for a ground. I'd still use a surge protector instead of a cheap splitter, but you should be fine.

If you are blocking out the sun then the tank shouldn't heat up too much.

i recently moved my tank away from a window that has blinds over it that i kept closed all the time, but on a warm day it heated up my turt's tank a lot even then. the blankets might offer more sun-blocking and take away some heat, but i think the area of the room will still just be in general warmer and might heat up the tank, especially if that wall of your house/building gets a lot of direct sunlight. i'd get a good in-tank thermometer and monitor the tank temp to see if it gets too warm during the day.
