Hi,

My RES spends most of the time on the basking platform (even when the light is not on) and rarely goes into the water to swim. I have the water temp. at 78 F, with filter. Whenever it's feeding time, I have to remove him from the platform into the water so he could eat. And he usually only eat 1 or 2 ReptoMin...Sometimes it almost seems he doesn't see the pellet, and frantically goes back on the platform. He's about 4 inches. And he's been like that ever since I got him from a pet store 2 month ago...? He's otherwise appears normal, no puffy eyes or strange sounds...Any idea on what's going on?

Sounds like a trip to the vet is in order......It may be nothing (they can slow down in winter) but not going into the water should be a concern.....I'd find a good herp vet and see what they think......

Sorry, my turtle is a female. She's been to the vet two weeks ago when she wasn't eating anything at all after I took her home from school (1 week break). I assumed she was just stressed in being a new environment. The dr. gave her a vitamin A shot. Now she's back in the school tank. She's eating 1-2 pellets...
