Habitat - Indoor :: A question about plants...

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Hi
I have a little Yellow-bellied slider and I wanted to add a Devil's Ivy (Pothos) to her tank. Is this ok? I've read that turtles would eat plants placed in their tank. Is this plant toxic to turtles?

Thanks,
Kevin

That particular plant is toxic to just about all animals. I highly suggest not putting it in the tank, and if you have a dog or cat, you might not want it in the house even. Sorry for the news!

Oh ok thanks!
I was searching an old post earlier and found a post where someone's turtle ate it with no effects whatsoever.

I'm still not putting it in my tank now. Thanks for the warning!

That's great! They are such tough critters sometimes! I did not see turtles in particular, but the list did include all reptiles, which I am assuming also means turtles. It kills birds and cats and dogs too.
