we have 2 baby turtles now in a spaceious 30 gallon tank my girlfriends sister wants to get rid of her 2 bbaby res and she asked if we would take em that would leave me with 4 baby res would 4 b able to get into a 55 gallon tank if i upgraded???

First off, if you take in more turts, quarantining them would be a good idea in case they're sick so you'd need another tank anyway.

A 55 would, in theory, be fine for 4 hatchlings, but not for long.

As they grow it'll be an absoulte miracle if they don't fight. I'd assume one or two of them are female and will be courted by the males. I'd think they'd need at least a 210 gallon tank when they're full grown, the bigger the better. More likely though it'd be a couple 120 gallons since I doubt they'll get along.

so we couldnt keep 4 in 1 tank ? wut about 3? because we might have someone that can provide a good home for 1 of them leaving me 3

No, It would not... They will need each when full grown like 100 gallons of water EACH.

Each turtle should have 10 gallons of water per inch of their shell... So if they are all 10 inches... a 400 gallon aquarium... So even 2 you will need a 240 gallon aquarium.

In another post others and I explained that the 10 gallons/inch is a great measurement to some extent. But, as you add additional turtles I don't think 10 gallons/inch is necessary.

It was sumed up well by another member, if two people lived in a 500 sq ft. apartment would each person say they live in a 250 sq. ft? No, I don't think so, that's why I believe 5 gallons/inch for each additional turtle would make sense.

Still, a 120 gallon tank couldn't hold 3 turtles to full size, I'd say 120 could hold 2 turtles, if they're male. Larger for females. This again is assuming they co-exist peacefully.

Probably the biggest problem with having 3 turtles would be getting them to live together peacefully. They would need a very large basking area as well.
For four adult RES I'd be thinking about ponds, not tanks.

Yeah you can't get much bigger than 250 gallons (for a tank)...It would be so hard to clean too! I have 2 in a 135 gallon tank and they are each 5.5 inches now. They look funny now cause they are so small in a big tank but I know they will grow into it...in no time.
