Mineral Removers when filling tank

My vet a few months ago told me that with water that has heavy mineral deposits in it I should get some kind of purifier. Sadly I forgot what she was talking about and couldnt get ahold of her.

I just moved and filled my tank and it is cloudy white to the point you can barely see in it and it smells horrible and the water has only been in there a few days.

Does anyone know if there is a mineral filter I can use while filling that tank?

Thanks,
Mobat

You just moved...so how far away? Do you have a new water source or does your water still come from the same location?

If your water is coming from a new source, I would recommend calling your water company and asking them what kinds of things are present in your water, either natural or added. From there you can look for a water conditioner that works for you.

I'm not sure what the difference is between a purifier and a conditioner.

You don't want to remove all the minerals, your turtle needs them. Petstores like Petco and Petsmart will do water testing for free. If you can, bringing in a sample might help you find out what's in your water.
