I know the recommended basking temp is in the high 80s/ low 90s... But my turtles bask a lot more of I keep the temp around 95. Is that an issue?

Should not be an issue as long as they can get out of the heat of they have too.

They have easy access to the water which is almost 20 degrees cooler. They like the warm temp though. If I put the basking temp to 85, they avoid it. As soon as it's back up to 95, they stack themselves to bask.

Just keep a closer eye on high temps with smaller turtles. How are you adjusting the temperature?

I have a (crappy) halogen reptile bulb and a UVB bulb in one fixture sold for reptiles... That was recommended by the pet store... They were using them on their tanks. When I started using it, they stopped basking. so, I added back the Flukers heat bulb that I had originally along with the uvb fixture and they are back to being happy baskers! I adjust the temp by moving the flukers bulb father away and take the air temp several times over the course of an hour until I'm sure the temp won't fluctuate. I have a thermometer that is a temporal one (used on foreheads but can take air temp as well).

An added bonus is if you have a larger basking area and they can move around to adjust their own temperature. I usually find they like it hotter as well.
