I'm currently building a 10'x6'x6' enclosure with a basking area above that. Is 6' of water to deep?

I doubt it, but I would also provide shallower areas, whether by sloping the bottom or by putting in some large rocks, tree branches, etc...

I'll be using drift wood to create shallow areas and places just barely underwater so they can chill out without getting out of the water.

Driftwood sounds great! How many turtles will reside there and will this be for outdoors?
