Well I bought my XP3 used almost two years ago and have decided to finally upgrade on the upcoming cleaning. After reading many reviews I decided to go with the Odyssea CFS700. It's rated for up to 125 gallon tanks but the flow rate is better than my Rena at 700gph. Looking forward to trying this out. Will post a review once it gets here and is setup.

Holy hell is this thing amazing! UPS dropped it off today and I had just enough time during lunch to rinse everything off and load the media. I have to say thus far I am super impressed.

Will certainly get pics tonight after I get it running. I have to say I had no idea it was this big. May have to trim the back plate on my ATBA. LOL 700gp/h yes please!

So the silly chineese developers seem to have gotten their media arrangement backwards. How it came is"

[coarse polishing pad]
[fine mechanical]
[medium mechanical]
[course mechanical]

The issue is that the water enters the filter from the top and is sucked downward into the pump and them up through a tube and out the outlet. So you're polishing media or in my case biomedia is the first thing the water hits when it enters the filter. What's even funnier is that all the people I've seen with these filters online have their media upside down. There is literally no way to do it other wise because the outlet on the lid has o-rings for that tubing coming off the pump.

So yeah got it setup. Just wanted to verify I wasn't crazy and that the media was indeed upside down. So I'll take it apart and flip everything (easy) and put it back together. One thing I gotta say is the flow is insane!

Personally I treat Sponges like Bio filters cause benefitial bacteria grows in them, but I do agree that your ceramic shaft shouldnt be first.

I would put them between the sponge, and just keep cleaning sponge thats on top closest to A and rotate clean the rest but thats me personally

Great point n3! I'll be moving it down today. Also please disregard my temporary filter stand. I'm actually going to run this filter with the XP3 for a week or two before remove the XP3 all together. There's only space for two hoses to pass through on the backplate and didn't want to cut new holes for nothing. So I have the huge hoses running over the top of the ATBA right now. LOL

Yes using the UV. Although I've read that with the.high flow rate it's probably not doing much.

Well it's up and running! I can't believe how much this thing flows yet it's completely silent. Absolutely love this thing so far!

Looks pretty good. Will definitely consider this when it's time to replace the XP3s.
