I took a measurement today I will do a update to me artificial light vs. natural light measurements after finals are over, this will be sometime in May. I didn't get measurements for Feb, Mar, Apr, I was a bit too busy (hence not being around for that time frame, as well). These are just recordings of Toku's tank and the room he is in. I can say it is 75 degree F., partly cloudy and breezy outside.

Measurements taken at 1340 Apr 26, 2013, bulb has 1600 hrs
Room temp – 78 degrees F.
Water temp – 80 degrees F.
Room LUX - 2,000k LUX

UVB @10” – 12µW/cm2
LUX output at 13” – 1,600k Lux
Temp on basking surface 14” from bulb – 101.4 degrees F.

Ok, so based on these measurements Toku's bulb needs to be changed. The bulb has 1,600 hrs of use and was installed on 14 Dec 2012. This makes the bulb only 5 and 1/2 months old. The LUX and UVB outputs have dropped drastically over the past 3 months. This bulb didn't even make it to the 6 month mark. The last measurements I took on this bulb was in January, here are the measurements at 315 hrs of use;

UVB Reading: 74 uW/cm2 @ 9”
Basking Surface Temp: 91.3 degrees Fahrenheit @ 12.5”
Ambient Temp: 75 degrees Fahrenheit
LUX: 5,600k @ 12”
LUX Reading in tank room: 4,900k

Very good info. Maybe we should make a sticky of people's UVB measurements? I think we're the only one w/meters though.

Calling all that have and use meters to measure their equipment! Maybe we could start a sticky and get more measurements Steve?

I'd like too... though I tend not to use indoor UVB this time of year as I take my RES out. Which meter do you have?

I have a Solar meter 6.2, a lux meter, and a I/R thermometer. Yeah I agree with that, I'm getting ready to fix Toku's outdoor kiddie pool (it froze and cracked over winter)!
