Habitat - Indoor :: nervous need help

OK so i live in a 2 story house it has a basement, first floor, and second floor... i want to get 2 55gl tanks for my 4 turts but im aware that they will weight close to 600 pounds do you think they could be in my room on the on the second floor of my house....i cant put them in the living room on the first floor there's no room...and i don't think its safe for them in my basement because its musty down there...and my floor in my room is hardwood pine so is it too soft and will my bedroom floor hold two 600 pound 55gl tanks...im very lost...im not getting them till June so i have time :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :?:

You need to know what direction your floor joists run.You want to span more than one.

what do you meen...if i pit the tanks on the floor facing the same direction the floor points ill be fine? can you explain what your talking bout

The red lines are floor joists . The blue line is how your tank should sit.You want to keep the load spread on several joists.Your tanks might be fine no matter where you put them. But when dealing with large tanks this is important !

ok i see now...but i cant put them on the first floor i can only put them in my room and i cant see the floor joists...my basement is musty and we have a besment humidifier down there...can they go in the basement?

I think you would be fine putting them in your room but I dont know how strong the floor is. Dont set them up together. One on one side one on the other.As far as the basement goes it depends on how cold it gets is it heated / air conditioned like the rest of the house?

iits hot down there all year long besides fall and winter...i will have heaters in the tanks...will the joists for the 2nd floor point the same direction as the first floor

yes it helped alot thank you!!!!!!!!!....so im towrds the end of winter here in new york...i just went in the basement (im cleaning my 20 gl turtle tanks right now) and its not that cold and we have alot of snow so im gonna pit a bucket of water and waite for it to get to room temp...and im gonna find out what directions the joists point on my second floor ill get bck to you later thank you very much...and i have my 20 gl tanks in my room witch is on the 2 floor they wieght roung 250 and there away from each other so ill thinkbill be fine with the 2 55 gl up there sense everhone seems to have that size

Yea for now! They get real big you do realize that?2 55 gallon tanks are not big enough for 4 fully grown sliders .

yeah ik i had. painted for a little while it was 7" lol so yeh ik...but when my mom fineshes the besment imm gonne get 1 huge tank

I would suggest you sell 3 while they are still cute and small.
