Folks, I went to Petco on Sunday (note: I live in New York City; this was the Petco on Columbus near 100th Street in Manhattan) to inquire about when they thought the next dollar-per-gallon sale would start. I was given the usual line of, "We don't know when they begin until they unload the tanks off the truck," but then I noticed a red "Save with Petco Pals" tag--$20 for a 20, $40 for a 40 breeder, etc., "Good until 7/21/2012". (The tank-gallon combos had no red tags but it's probably because they weren't going to discount the whole tank plus wooden stand.) When the manager came by she had this slightly surprised look on her face and she said, "They didn't put the signs up."
So if you need a new tank, it looks like you have the next three and a half weeks at Petco. Look for the red tag. You also have to be a Petco Pals Rewards member but it's no hassle.
