Try Zoo Med Terrarium Moss. No chemicals, dyes etc. For pets, you can get it online easy or at a petco. Reading about the land it should be 1/2 peatmoss and 1/2 damp sand mixed together.

As for bottom not sure. ID say ridged vinyl flooring runner but im not sure exactly how you make sure that stuff has no chemicals that come off in water. I know thats a new trend for bare bottom but give traction for the turtle but im not sure where those guys get theuir stuff.

I originally did the peat moss - sand 50/50 mixture, and although it was great at simulating natural environment, it clogged the crap outta my filter. It was a total nightmare! Everytime I came home my more than powerful enough filter was clogged with peat moss that had been drug into the water and expanded. When I opened the filter it looked like there was no components or media- just mud. Like a bucket of mud sludge. It was months of struggling with water clarity, and PH.

So I've recently switched over my land media to just plain play sand and I can't tell you how much better it is. I'm happy, turtle is happy and the filter is happy. She's been basking more, and her water has been crystal clear- much better in my opinion. Don't make the same mistakes I did.
