So here's the update of what my dad and I accomplished today. Everything's looking great! There's a big snow-storm coming, so we're putting the hose away, but after the storm passes we're going add some water and see the levels and shim accordingly. Comment on it!

That looks great!

If the strainer is siliconed on, how will you get it off to clean it?

only one end is siliconed. I cut about a 3 inch segment of the cascade tube and siliconed it to the PVC. If it would've made a tight fit with the PVC, I wouldn't need the sealant, but it was loose so I only siliconed the cascade pipe to the PVC. The strainer part can slide off (with careful force since silicon is notorious for not sticking to PVC). Thanks for watching!
