Hello everyone ,

I introduce you Vagos and his DIY habitat!I call him 'he' cause this is the gender i would prefer my turtle to be ,although we cant tell yet for sure as he is 1.8 inches :) The rocks are large river rocks ,the ramp is made of dried bamboo ,tied with little strings.Water temperature is stable at 25-26 C (77 - 78.8 F) and basking area is at 31-32 C(87.8 - 88.6 F)

He is ,as most turtles are ,a finger follower :D ...this i believe ,is a sign of a healthy turtle lol

I just wanted to ask you a question....His uvb bulb distance is at 5.1 inches vertically but he never sits right under it.He usually stays where the ramp ends and thats about 6 - 6.5 inches.Do you think i should get the bulb higher?Till now ,he hasnt shown any symptoms like swollen eyes or burn

Thanks in advance!

Very cute turtle. If the ramp is too steep, then he might be reluctant to use it. Maybe lure him up there with food a few times to see if he can easily access it.

He can easily access it ,thats not a problem.I meant that he sits at the top of the ramp ,where it connects with the basking platform.Sorry ,my bad...

What's the temp. of your basking area? It may be too hot, in which case you have to move your heat source further away. As for your UVB lamp, you should follow the recommendations on the box. I think it's usually 10-12", but you should check.

I'd keep it at around 10". Reptiglo's are not as strong as other UVB bulbs, so 10" should be fine. As for a precaution for any UVB device, always keep an eye out for eye irritation.
