Habitat - Indoor :: So excited about my idea I had to share!

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Hey Everyone, I had the most awesome idea the other day. I really wanted to share it with you all!!

So I bought these 5 mini 'potted' plants for my turtle but they're just floating around. I bought some rocks as a substrate that are big enough so that my turtle doesn't eat them but they don't work as a way to hold the plants down. I don't want to put sand in there, because it seems like too much of a hassle.

Anyways, I was unpacking some stuff from storage and found this quasi castle that I made in highschool ceramics. I then realized that I had these small towers as part of the art that I made. They are the perfect size for my plants. So the other day I bought some aquarium sealant from the pet store and I'm going to 'paint' my decoration and then put it in the tank. It's going to look so beautiful!

I said quasi castle because its actually like a circle: wall, tower, wall, tower etc... I wonder if she'll sleep in the circle of plants when I'm done...

Unless you know for sure that the paint your going to use is aquarium safe and non toxic if it leaches into the water, I wouldn't paint it.

I'm 100% sure. It's made for this purpose. I looked all over town for something like it. Turns out all I had to do was go to a pet store.

Post pictures when your done. Iv always found that if your using a indoor tank its always good to have nothing in it so that the turtle has as much swimming space as possible, outdoor ponds are so huge that its sometimes good to have stuff in the water for hiding and stuff. they get so used to people in a tank they usually dont ever hide....ever....just sitting there tryin to get you to feed them lol

It is always fun tho to do something creative with a fish tank and on a side note with the planted plants. will they survive in the water fully submurged or are they fake plants. cuz the turtles will try to eat them. fake or not.

My turtles love chewing on the plants that I place in my tank.

Post pics when you're done. :)

I think my turtle appreciates the stuff in his tank, every time I change the decor he explores every little nook and cranny. Seems more entertaining than a big empty tank to swim laps in!

Sounds like it'll look cool :)

New decor is always good, just make sure there's a lot of swimming space available. :)
