I'm pretty nervous about buying this product http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/he ... ghting.php because of what the guy in this post said. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=21548&hilit=ExoTerra+Heat+Glo+Infrared+Heat+Lamp Is it safe for me to buy this bulb or should i look for alternatives.

if i wore you, id just use a regular color lightbulb they work just as fine. ive used a red bulb in the past but not the exo terra one. my turtles love it

I like to use halogen lights, the kind made for outdoor use. They're more expensive and heavier, but are splash proof and produce a lot of warmth.

What wattage should i buy?

It depends, I use 50 Watt halogen bulb about 10" away from the basking area. You will need to make adjustments when you have your bulb.
