Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Hi everyone

I have noticed the water temp in the tank has been quite warm lately (summer here).

My questions are: Is there such a thing as too warm water? & if so, how do I control it?

I gave the little guy some ice cubes the other day, which at first freaked him out, but after a minute or so he started trying to eat them.

Cheers

Well everyone on here seems to freak out if the water temp is higher then 76-78 and their answer is freeze gallon jugs of water and then place them in a tank. It helps lower the temp 1 or 2 degrees.

Yea, once water hits the 90s that when your getting in trouble but if the water is in the low 80s I see no point in trying to cool it down at all. People on other forums that keep turtles in ponds in some of the warmer states there temps have really been up their with the unusually high temps we just had. Reading lots of pond with temps in the 80s and no dead turtles

My tank has been between 80-82 degrees for the past 2 weeks. Like Dimondbacks said, they're safe at any temp below 90 for short amounts of time (a few days)

If the water gets really warm (for me that's in the mid 80's) for any length of time, I do a partial water change. I also keep a fan blowing just over the tank (not directly on the turtle) to keep the warm air circulating.
