so my reptiglo 5.0 is coming to the end of its life span and i want to upgrade to the mega-ray 100w flood mvb. my question is with these bulbs can they be angled with a large clamp dome lamp or do they need to be straight vertical? i couldn't find any information on this on the website so i though i would try here.

Yes, they need to be hung vertically. Otherwise, the ballast and filament can become crooked and release an unsafe, unreliable amount of UV light.

I believe the rule also goes for externally ballasted bulbs, I hang mine vertically.
EDIT: You can check out my setup in the photo gallery in my signature as an example.

I do recommend the bulbs, my turtle has always done well under them. The ReptileUV company recently had a recall on their newer bulbs, so do some research on them before buying. My current bulb is almost a year old so it was purchased before the recalled bulbs.

Additionally, if you do decide on the externally ballasted bulb, be prepared to have a supplemental heat bulb or ceramic heat emitter.
