If you're talking about fish for the tank I would suggest minnows or any fish in the petstore that looks fast to you! My fish are super slow, so I can basically put any fish in my tank. But thats up to your turtle!

Yes ^^. May i also suggest cheap fish.

minnows, gupppies etc. Because there is a high chance they will be eaten.

Start with minnows and guppies as they are cheap and aren't harmful to the turtle if eaten. Avoid goldfish and plecos as the former is high in fat and dirties up the tank and the latter is very bony which could pose a threat to the turtle if ingested.

Yes, we have Tiger Barbs with Sway and he hasn't touched them. The only time he chases them is when it's feeding time because they all try to go for the same food and they bother him. Other than that he'll let them swim by his face and he's not interested.

I have 5 bloodfin tetras and 5 gold barbs and they all seem to do fine.
My turtles will chase the barbs as if they are going to eat them but then turn away as they get close.
The barbs were 5 for 5 dollars at petco :)

That sounds good. Just be prepared that your turtles will chase them when you put them in and if they are fast enough the turtles might catch a few.

If they all survive to breed, which is not likely unless they have LOTS of hiding places, your females will be stressed. Male guppies will chase them ALL THE TIME, i suggest a ratio of two or three females for every one male for breeding.

I know what will happen when I put the fish in so I will get many hiding places ready so I would not need to worry about that. The last time i did it the turtles chased the fish like mad,but didnt look at them after that. Thanks to BiteyBits, emma,db'sSlider , freshprince2146,untsmurf and redmeadow :D

But if the pleco is fast enough do you guys think it will survive?I know goldfish should not be put with the RES'.

Plecos aren't quick moving fish, in my experience. I've only seen them move around in quick bursts. Usually, they're stationary or moving slowly.

My turtle has eaten three of them since he's been in my possession. We stopped getting them a while ago.

You're welcome!

untsmurf- How big were the plecos compared to the turtles? I own a huge pleco (over a foot last time I saw it) my Mom is keeping for me and wanted to put it in with my RES when I get the chance, the turtles are still babies.

You're right plecos are not fast at all, but there is a little algae eater that's quick and fiesty- can't remember the name.
