Habitat - Indoor :: New eastern mud turtle tank!

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

So, I'm about to buy 2 baby eastern mud turtles and I thought I might use my old turtle setup I had in my attic.
The dimensions are 40"x17"
This is what I set up so far:

I still need to add rocks, buy a lamp holder for the uvb and some plants and rearrange it a bit. But don't worry i'll keep you guys up-to-date.
My question is the following:
I have 2 internal filters in there, a hydor pico (for up to 8gal) and a duetto dj 50 (up to 13gal). They're kinda small, I just filled them with biological material, without any sponge or whatever. I got a spare fluval 405 but it's way too powerful for that kinda setup and baby turts.
Would they be able to keep the water in check with 2 babies and some mosquitofish?

Well, after all they're just two mud turtles 1 inch and a half long, not res. Plus I'm planning on adding lots of other plants who can give a hand in keeping the water a bit cleaner. It shouldn't be too hard for the filters. But I'm looking for a small canister anyway, I found a TetraTec ex 700 for just 30bucks from some guy.

Update:
Image

I moved stuff around a little bit so that turtles and plants have more room and cleaning would be easier.
Added 2x39W t5 neon lights, i think they look stylish.
Turts have started basking a bit, i caught them on the basking rock a couple of times.
Mosquitofish are breeding and there's millions of them.

ps- apple snails have laid some eggs on the front glass.

pps- thursday I'm gonna get some red cherry shrimps. About 40 of them. I'll put them in a small tank with plants and stuff but i wanted to add some of them to this tank. Do any of you know if they might survive? WHAddyathink you guys? Thanks.

rsour: mud/musk turtles are carnivores. They generally don't mess a lot with plants (at least i hope so!), compared to res/ybs that will eat almost any kinda plant. that's why i got the eastern muds (and the small adult size). In the RES tank I have 0 real plants in the water, they're all silk/plastic.
