Habitat - Indoor :: brownish-red smears in my tank?

hey guys,


the bottom of my tank is clear theres no substrate and i recently found some brownish red smears on the bottom of my tank here and there.

does anyone know what this is? could it be fungus?

if so, how do i treat this problem...

If I'm not mistaken, and thinking of the right thing, it sounds to me like diatoms are growing in your tank. They are just a type of algae and can be wiped off the glass safely. They are harmless to your turtle.

i have the same problem. i am just too lazy to fix it haha. but its ok cause i have it controlled. it is only in one small spot and it doesnt get bigger

One of the contributors to diatoms (if that's what they are) is low lighting. If this is the case, increasing the ambient lighting might help keep them from forming.
