Ive built jabba a wonderful basking area out of a basket as well as egg crate. She climbs up there from time to time sits on the ramp and looks around then jumps right back into the water and repeats the process. (shes doing it right now as im typing this) I will catch her sometimes basking but never when im around.

Her tank is in the lowest traffic area of the house my room, but she seems shy, how can i help her out!

Are you sure she can't escape by way of the ramp to the basking stop?

Is that table designed to hold an aquarium? If not, don't trust it to hold that weight.

in my experience, the answer is time.

how long have you had your turtle?
i'd recommend just hanging out around the tank lots.
i find that that helps.
