Question...

I have my turtle in a 75 gallon tank filled right to the top with water. I built an above tank basking area entirely out of egg crate. I am working on getting some softer materials to decorate it/make it comfortable/make it look more natural. but for now, he uses it...

how do I clean it? it is all attached firmly so I can't just take it off the tank to clean it...the eggcrate ramp going into the water is GREEN it is so covered in scum/algae whatever it is. any suggestions on how to clean it out? like the green stuff is in all the little individual holes of the eggcrate, and it seems like it would take hours to scrub it all out with a Q-tip like I was going to do.

also, any suggestions to decorate it? I am on a budget but want to make it nicer/easier on his skin....mainly the cleaning thing is my question though. thanks!!

Occasionally I take mine off and scrub the ramp with a stiff scrub brush. Even if you can't take it off, you could probably take a scrub brush and give the ramp a bit of a clean, then just change some of the water.

A scrub brush doesn't get all of it off, but I've found it helps get the big stuff off.
