my new filter has a sponge ,carbon and that's it should i add aquarium wool in the extra room inside its a cascade 400 summergable

I wouldn't mess with it, unless your watching debris come out the output, it's good.

kk its got alot of room and the box says you can chose your own media or something like that

I have the cascade 300 for an 10 gallons where i breed feeders,you can always add more bio media. Ive used some left over matrix bio media from my main tank and it does a good job. even gravel would do the job,not as good as bio media but better then void.
