Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

i know theres been a lot of talk on here about live plants as of late, but i was curious about adding moss balls to my tank because even after being destroyed they still grow and kind of carpet the tank bottom. does any one on here use them? and are they dangerous if the turtle eats them. the kind i was thinking about putting in are marimo (sp) balls which seem to be the most common.
