im thinking about replacing the ramp on my ATBA with cork bark. im currently using a piece of swampash wood, but its a little slippery for my turtle to get in and out off. so my question is, how sturdy is corkbark? could it support my turlte getting in and out of the water? and also, when the cork bark is saturated will it start to dissolve/break apart? i found a seller on ebay that sells 8 x 15 inch pieces.

Cork bark is pretty sturdy, as long as you install it right. Many people just wedge it between the front and back of the tank.No it will not dissolve.
8x15 is not a big enough piece for an adult turtle.

I really like cork bark for a basking area (all my turtles have pieces to bask on). Over time, however, it will get saturated to the point that it will need to be replaced (you can dry it out, but it will not be restored to its former condition---it will become waterlogged fairly quickly and will need to be redried). Wedging it between the sides of the tank would lkely increase it's longevity. It won't "dissolve" per se, but as it ages you'll probably start finding a few small pieces on the bottom of the tank.

thanks for the replies guys, i dont want to use the cork bark as a the basking area itself, just as the ramp to get up to his ATBA which is a piece of tile.
