started off with a 10 foot 1x12
Image

cut all the pieces to length

frame work
Image

i cut slots into the wood to slide plexi glass into instead of having to drill it
Image

these are the blocks the frame sits on inside the tank
Image

the back and sides
Image

this is how it sits on the tank
Image

i used regular door casing to add the final touch
Image

i used eggcrate to make a lid to keep him in

and here is the final product!

i still have to add a piece of tile and some sort of ramp, im still working the details on that out lol. more pics to come!

Lookin' good!
Slotting the wood for the plexiglass makes for a very secure and clean looking installation.

What'd you end up using for a ramp?

I used a piece of plexiglass which I covered in "drawer/cabinet liner" for texture and attached it with hinges. The idea was to have the "loading" end float on the surface with foam but that didn't work out so well. Ended up tying it to the top which supported it fine.

Have you mounted it yet? Hows the light through-put to the water below?

A nice decorative touch is some plastic vines -- I picked mine up at the dollar store. $5 worth more than adequately dressed up the outside and inside of the ATBA!

This is mine if you'd like to take a look:

Made a few cosmetic changes since this picture (and added a turtle, too ;) ) but it's been holding up great!

Can't wait to see some more pictures of yours!

i used ceramic title for platform itself

*also* before anyone bashes on me for using wood, its Louisiana swamp ash which grows in water. anyways, i used a piece of swamp ash wood for the ramp

Image

my demonic fish would not get out of the way for the picture O_o
Image

here is the whole setup, i know the plants don't look great, but i cant reach the bottom of the tank so its hard to place them right lol

and the most important part....PHIL!!!!!

its an albino tiger oscar if you look closely you can notice he has a deformed mouth. i saw him at petsmart like a year ago and asked about him cause his mouth is deformed and the lady said that he had been there for a long time, i felt real bad for the little guy so im brought him home.
