hey... so as i asked q while ago... i would like to replace my heat light lamp to a ceramic heat emitter blub with no light.

i found this bulb wich seems perfect for me; 75W + shipping available to my location - http://cgi.ebay.com/Zoo-Life-Ceramic-In ... 439bb49a87

but i got a question for you - is it possible/safe to use this bulb on a 75W clamp lamp or the lamp house should be a special product for ceramic heaters?

this is my clamp lamp , is it good for the ceramic blub or dangerous?

thanks!!

I've never had a ceramic heat emitter, but from what I understand you need a special type of fixture for them because they get HOT. Much hotter than an incandescent bulb.

ceramic heaters are ceramic for the main reason that they get VERY hot. they can cause 3rd degree burns on contact to turtles and people.

I use a 60W and my turtle loves it. the heaters require ceramic fixtures that can withstand incandescent bulbs up to 650W. The dome should be rated for a bulb roughly double the output of the heater.

the price of this bulb includes shipping to my location (23$).
the problem with the other brands is that there is no shipping available or too expensive (32$ just for the shipping).... this is why i found this blub very atractive, see? so is it ok to buy it or avoild it?

another question, please...
the exo-terra ceramic dome clamp lamp is design for us 120v , i live in europe, can i put it in the electric with 120to220 adaptor ?

thanks!@

I think you could - just be really careful as to what converter you use (check the maximum wattage allowed, etc.) Last time I was in Europe my converter burned when I tried to plug in my 15min. battery charger. I guess it just really overworked it. So for example if says, up to 75W and that's what your lamp needs, it's probably not enough! I'd go with some kind of safety margin. By the way this is just my opinion.

They are also heavier than a glass bulb, you will need to keep that into consideration. What kind of light are you using?
