I need help for a filter here . Any recommendations for a filter than is suitable for a 6x1.5x2 tank ? Volume is around 135 gallons or 13 litres . Thanks .

I have a 125, and I use 2 Rena XP3 filters. I think I could get away with one, but it would require weekly water changes. The XP4 might be a good choice as well. It wasn't out when I bought my 1st XP3.

If you can afford it go for a FX5, that would be the best bet for your tank.

I think an Fluval FX5 would be good for that tank. I have one each in my 75 and 90 gallon tanks and I love them.

Oh yeah I forgotten to mention that my RES's are only 2 inches so I was wondering whether the FX5 is an overkill for them .

You can easily adjust the nozzles on the FX5, so you could just aim them toward the wall so they don't toss your little RES around too much.

Are there other alternatives for the filter other than the FX5 ?

The Rena XP4 like Scripta mentioned might be good. There's also the Eheim 2080 Pro 3. Eheims are supposed to be a good filter, though they're pricey. Anything else you're looking at two filters. You could do two XP3s, or two 405s. There are certainly other brands out there, but Eheim, Rena and Fluval tend to be the most popular.

Look at the liter per hour or gallon per hour rating of the filter. If it's not there,
the powerhead should have it. Usually, we want 3-5 times the volume of water
to be cycled in an hour.

FYI, 135 gallons = 510 liters.

The eheim 2080 is 1700lph, which should be sufficient for a 135 gallon with 1 RES. It may struggle a bit with 2 or more adult RES, but you could always a second inexpensive filter, like a HOB filter or something.

I use an FX5 on my 135 gallon. It's way better than i ever imagined. The only reason I have to do water changes is because I have hard water problems.

Sigh . Due to the seller backing out the last minute I was not able to have my 6ft D: Guess I'll stick with a 3x2x2 tank . Hm so a Eheim 2028 Pro TWO is more than enough right ?
