they have potential to eat it, plus they will chip, and can greatly impact and hurt your turtles, i advise you take them out..

I'll have to second that. I have large river rocks in my tank and they love to push those around. Something else you could try is a pingpong ball. Impossible for them to bite into and they'll chase it for hours.

Take them out please. Since they create an unneccessary health hazard and you don't have access to veterinary care it's an unacceptable risk. I would try ping pong (table tennis) balls instead.

*sigh* I had two large river rocks in my tank and I saw my turt moving them around. I took them out because I was scared that he might hurt himself/scratch his shell or something but if he was just having fun, I'll put them back in. I was wondering what to put in so he could have some fun. Thanks guys!

Misty, as long as the rocks are bigger than the turtle's head, there's no danger of him eating them.

I read that but he takes the rocks and shifts them around. He moves them from one end of the tank to another. I guess he just wanted to show how strong he was. I wasn't scared that he would try to eat them, just didn't want him to scratch his shell..yeah, I'm a fuss Miss buuuut I love him so much!

Mine takes the river rocks and sticks his head under them and just lays there... Is that normal or is my turtle suicidal? :)

Are you sure he's just not smelling something to eat and looking for it?

My bottom of my aquarium looks like a 2 year old interior designer decorated it.

I know, I should take a picture of what it looks like now compared to a week ago.
