which is better,a basking dock or a floating log

** vote at the top so which is better **

i heard the basking dock breaks easily, doesn't always stick to the glass, and the sand comes off

i also heard that the floating log moves and is hard for the turtle to get on, plus people say when the turtle gets older and grows it can get stuck in it...

vote at the top so which is better

There both really good for small to medium turtles.

Larger turtles like everyone said its a neither on both of them and custom making your own is better.

I had a floating dock with the suction cups, however, the turtles have outgrown it. I removed the frame and suction cups and just let it float around. My female RES uses it like a surfboard. I also put some of the food pellets on it and she climbs up on her front legs to check it out. I would build a permanent basking area.

Between the 2, the dock is better till your turtles grow larger.
Then you can use the dock as a ramp to climb on to your ATBA.So yeah i would get the dock.

i had my dock for about a year. the zoo med one i think. i looked under it and when i rubbed it i got this weird dusty stuff. it looks like the basking rock is breaking down in the water.

so its kind of hard choosing either one

The only dock I've ever had that stood up to being in water all the time was a foam one that was supposed to absorb water. On the flip side, I hated the freaking thing and was glad when I lost it.
