Hi there,

I am interested in implementing two Lucky Reptile Bright Sun Lamps 50W and 70W similar to the following setup:

I realize these are metal halide lamps, and require a standard porcelain E27 socket and a ballast. All of these are available in the EU (expensive) but I'm worried they won't be compatible with a USA voltage and outlets. I am, however, looking to purchase the bulbs.

Anyone know of a more economical way to set up these bulbs?

Thanks!!!

(btw: http://www.klappschildkroete.de is an amazing site. Not specifically red ear sliders but an amazing inspiration. You can use google translator.)

It looks like those are designed especially for desert animals. You could use them, but a house bulb and a UVB bulb would accomplish the same result. Also, I worry that it doesn't specifically say what kind of UV light it produces. They might say UV light and refer to UVA (heat) but not UVB.

I don't know how to set them up though, sorry.
