Just so you know, there is an "Edit" button on the right hand side of posts. That way you don't have to tripple post.

OK, for starters, you should raise the water level as high as you can, without the turtle climbing out. (RES are VERY VERY good climbers  )

You should get a UVB bulb. These 2 are the most recommenced compact bulbs:Reptisun, or ReptiGlo

Personally, I use ReptiGlo, because it is cheaper for me.

You can get rid of the fish if your water quality is poor, because they will only make it worse.

The light bulb i have is a ReptoGlo bulb its 75 watt, Do you guys think its to close?
I have the fish so they clean up the tank a little and so far they have been doing very great at that. What else do you guys think i can do to make it better for them.

To be totally honest, that bulb can be a minimum of 12 to 14 inches away (considering it's a 75 watt)

So yes, you can definitely raise the water level to make the bulb closer. These turtle only go onto to land to bask, and the rest of their activities involve water.

It probably isnt a UVB bulb if it is a 75 watt.

Unless it is a Mercury Vapor UVB/Heat combo.

Maybe I'm getting UVB confused with the MVB...

Too many terms!! I feel like I'm back in school.

A MVB (Mercury Vapor Bulb) Produces UVB + Heat.
A UVB (Ultra Violet B Bulb) Produces UVB.

(Is it just me, or do the pictures not show up?)

I did know what they stood for, I just was getting their effects and how to use stuff switched around.

A MVB produces UVB rays, UVA rays and heat.

A conventional UVB light produces UVB rays, UVA rays, but no appreciable heat. Therefore, a heat source is necessary.

vouslavous, there could be more water in the tank. How many gallons is it? That filter is most likely going to need an upgrade. Your RES needs a UVB light in addition to that heat light. Check the temp with a thermometer to see how far it should be away from the basking area. Somewhere in the range of 88 - 90F is good.

I don't know if that's supposed to be a cave with rock in it, but make sure your RES can't get stuck in it.
