Habitat - Indoor :: Cloudy water after major cleaning?!

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I did a major clean which I do about every 40 days... cuz my filter does a great job and PH and Nitrite levels are good. So this was more than sucking the poop up and old food that I do every 10 days or so.

Did a major clean like I said, emptied about 50% of the water, put Amquel+ in it and Stress Zyme like normal.

Only thing done differently: was that I put one of the calcium tablets in the water (done it before but not in a long while) and the turtle started eating it... a big chunk of it. Wondering if maybe it had diarrhea (none that I saw) or if the calcium tablet is turning it a little cloudy?

Doesn't capture a lot of the cloudy but this was the best I could do in 2 minutes....

That does happen sometimes with water changes. In general, those little blocks are not recommended.

Cuttlebone is actually better than the calcium blocks. (I'm also getting these sand dollars later this week, which are made of the same thing as cuttlebone) Apparently in some areas, cuttlebone costs like, 2 dollars or more, and in other places it's under a dollar. I just get it from this website: http://www.petdiscounters.com

Anyways, calcium is a mineral, so, when water gets cloudy like that, it generally is a mineral deposit. Mineral deposits just increase the amount of one or more minerals in the water, and besides the cloudy look, they don't really do any harm.

When I had my issues with my turtles being stolen, they had lived in a different environment, and after just two days in the tank, the water really cleaned them off and all the mineral deposits and dirt that was stuck to them came off. Just changed the water today. Prolly felt great for them to get all that off.
