how far away should my lamps be?? they are roughly 9-10inc away from the turtle

i have a 5.0 uvb
2 RES
franklin-13yrs old, 5 1/2 inc long
harriet-1 month- 1.5 inc long

im guessing 6-9 inchs from the top of the shell while basking should do it for the UVB. For heat make sure the temps are 90-95 degrees, or at least 10 degrees warmer than the water temps.

it should say on the box how far the UVB should be. it varies depending on the manufacturer
Horsepower is how fast you hit a wall. Torque is how far you move a wall

What brand and type are you using? If it's a tube UVB light, 6 - 8 inches is fine. A basking area temp in the range of 88-90F is good.
