It might be just bec of the small space of the tank and the heating / basking bulbs but do any of you guys have problems with algae or anything really growing on your sand. I spot clean Nikos temp tank when I can so I dont think I'm really missing anything but it seems that the sand is almost covered in this green algae growth while the rest of the tank with exception to the basking dock ramp looks fine except for a few algae smudges on the glass. Now I suppose I could dig the sand out as it starts to turn green but that just seems like a lot of removing / replacing of sand.

use vacuum cleaner for (sand or gravel, both of them can), that can remove bacterial and algae, good luck~

i had that. it was like grass growing on the sand or something. i just peeled the layer of algae off the top of the sand scrubbed all the algae off the basking dock and walls and then added some stuff called No More Algae and havent had problems since.

Probably what I'll have to end up doing but since this is a temp home I dont wana get to involved with it but it could use "some" cleaning. But ya like you said, its like an algae grass thats growing all over the sand. I'll see if I can look up no more algae but if you gotta pic that would be cool to, Thx Daniel.

I have that, we have had the sand for over a year so we just plan on dumping it and getting new sand. Ours only seems to be growing near the filter intank and bubbler though.
